PRODUCERL Tile Backer Board Water Resistant psum Wallboard Bestwall Gyspura Company 2 Industrial Boulevard Paoli, Pennsylvania I93OI USE: As a water resistant base for the direct application of adhesively applied ceramic and othdr wall tile primarily in bathrooms and shower stalls. DESCRIPTION: Tile Backer Board consists of a core of incombustible gypsum rock combined with a water resisting emulsion to which is laminated a water resistant light blue face chip board paper with high suction coating and a breather type black paper. Size: Standard thickness of l/2 ihch. (5/8" thick material may be used). Sheets are 4 feet in width, tapered edge, 8, 11 or 12 feet in .length. INSTALLATION: Installation &hall be 6trictly in accordance with the producer' applica tion instructions. 1. Apply the 1/2 inch Tile Backer Board horizontally with the actory (paperbound) edge maintained a minimum of l/l* inch above the lip of tub, receptor or sub-pan. Tile Backer Board is designed for use on framing 16 inches o.c. When framing is more than 16 inches o.c., suitable blocking shall be installed between the studs. One row of blocking Shall be placed approximately 1 inch above the top of tub or receptor and another at the midpoint between the tub and ceiling. Nailing 6hall comply with the requirements of the Minimum Property Standards for 1/2 inch drywall. 2. All cut ends and any exposed core at openings for soap dishes, escutcheons, etc. shall be thoroughly covered with special vinyl tape. SGP 0025298 3* The adhesive shall comply with Commercial Standard CS 181-52 "WaterResistant Organic Adhesive for Installation of Clay Tile" or CS 168-50 "Polystyrene Plastic Wall Tiles and Adhesives for Their Application". Tile adhesive shall be approved by the manufacturer of the surfacing material for use over gypsum wallboard. Water-thinned mastics Shall not be used. h.
