I spoke to Toni Krasnic of EPA last week and he was surprised that DoD is pursuing setting a level for PFOA. As far as EPA is concerned, anything that is made with all short-chains is considered compliant with the SNUR. That is why they don1t have a maximum PFOA level. It would be good for DoD to talk to EPA about this issue. Jennifer Field called me yesterday. She wants us to send her samples of new milspec AFFFs so she can characterize the fluorosurfactants and publish them, as she did in 2012 in the attached paper. Obviously wen have some serious concerns. I understand that the Air Force contract was awarded to Auxquimia on Friday and they are already making deliveries around the world.
