Dear Doctor Kehoe
I had hoped to attend your refresher oourse, "The Significance of the Levels of Concentration of Lead in Body Fluids in Relation to Industrial Hygiene" at the AIHA conference in Toronto to learn more concerning lead in urine as a secondary lead exposure monitoring de vice. Since work scheduling will not permit my attendance, I would appreciate any comments you may have or reference to recent publica tions which detail urine sampling, analysis methods and interpretation of results.
Of particular concern is our method for correcting concentrations based on variations in specific gravity.: We are using 1.024 as a. standard and are multiplying actual metal concentrations by the ratio of the last two significant figures of standard sp.gr. and the actual sp.gr. For example, if a urine sample has a sp.gr. of 1.008, the correction factor would equal 3 or 24/8.
