Dear Dr. Schaffner: On November 23, 1976 we sent you a letter commenting on a publica tion entitled "Studies of Respiratory Morbidity in Rubber Workers, Part IV. Respiratory Morbidity in Talc Workers", by Lawrence J. Fine, et al, which appeared in the July/August 1976 issue of A r chives of Environmental Health. More recently the Archives of Environmental Health carried a let ter by a Johnson Johnson author, F. Robert Rolle, P h .D ., who commented on the same 1976 article by Dr. Fine, et a l . A reply by D r s . Fine and Peters, two of the original authors, was also included. In review the study material is clearly identified as "industrial talc". This is reaffirmation that no inferences toward cosmetic talc can be made from the original 1976 published study. A copy of Dr. Rolle's letter and a copy of the reply by Drs. Fine and Peters is appended. Respectfully yours, W C W :van Att. W m . C. Waggoner, Ph.D. Manager Medical and Regulatory Affairs o
