APPROP. 2025, PLANT JOB 536 We herewith propose to furnish all material, plant, labor and supervision as required to construct, fabricate'and erect all components of the Spray Chamber, Cottrell Plant and Connecting Flues in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications prepared by American Smelting and Refining Company titled 1970 Cottrell Addition, El Paso, Texas. Our total cost for this work including all applicable tax is One Million Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($1,750,000,00). We do not include cost of performance bond. ` We further propose that work be completed 150 working days after receipt of contract. Our construction schedule indicates that upon sward of contract field mobilization and excavation of footings will commence immediately, with first concrete pour being projected within 30 days. We have included in the afore cost an amount for performing steel caisson placement per contract specifications. Said work being accomplished with a Bemoto Machine furnished by our bidding 'subcontractor, Lakeside Contractors, Chicago, Illinois. Investigation of construction requirements indicates that this firm has the only operable Bemoto Machine in the United States. Our proposal for placing specified caissons (Benoto Hachine) is in the amount of $82,950.00. $16,800.00 of this amount i6 for moving rig and equipment to Jobsite. It is often desirable, with utilisation of the Benoto Machine, to withdraw the steel caisson as concrete is poured. If this application could bo applied and euch procedure approved, deduct from our total bid, $12,000.00. We have also developed and prepared an alternate procedure for placing caissons. This procedure for drilling and driving caissons is attached hereto. If this method is approved, deduct $40,000.00 froa total bid amount. Our cost reflects our interpretation of Section III, Appendix B Concrete Specifications, Paragraph 44, Page III - 6, that all tie rods shall be removed from within poured walls.- We propose to utilize, and have included an applicable cost, a form tapered tie equal to Burke $ 130. If our interpretation is in error and standard snap ties with cones can be utilized deduct $4,000.00 from total bid amount. Hatch Proposed Alternate Procedure for Caisson Placement In lieu of utilizing a Bemoto Machine or equal as specified, it is herewith proposed that on alternate method to drill, drive and place steel, 5/16" wall, caissons of size indicated, be followed,- Our proposed procedure is as specifically outlined below: 1. First four feet of excavation will be accomplished with an auger of li&e size of required caisson outside dimension. This will allow exact alignment of caisson. 2. In placing of a 36" caisson, drill ahead of caisson with a 30" auger before driving and turning caisson. Lead depth of auger will not exceed IS" (bottom rim of caisson to auger face) Ditto above requirement for 30" caisson except utilize 24" auger. Ditto above requirement for 24" caisson ' except utilize 18" auger. 3. Caisson will be rotated if necessary. 4. Auger face will not exceed minimum bearing elevation. ,, 5. Hand excavate last foot above indicated minimum bearing level and drive caisson to bearing elevation. 6.
