Changing Deionized Water Cylinder 1.0 Objective: 1.1 To replace these cylinders in a safe and efficient manner. 2.0 Responsibility: 2.1 It is the responsibility of the operations supervisor and the lab coordinator to ensure that this procedure is fully complied with. 2.2 It is the responsibility of the lab operator to execute this procedure in a safe and efficient manner. 3.0 Safety Notation: 3.1 Monogoggles and safety shoes are required to perform this task. 4.0 Special Notation: 4.1 Label the spent cylinder so it will not be mistaken for a fresh one. 5.0 Procedure: 5.1 Block in the header inlet valve on the spent bottle. 5.2 Bleed the pressure off by opening the needle valve at the sink. 5.3 Close the header outlet valve on the spent cylinder. 5.4 Unplug the spent cylinder from the electrical outlet to prevent shocking. 5.5 Open header inlet and outlet valves on the fresh cylinder.(Make sure that the fresh cylinder is plugged in electrically) 5.6 Open needle valve at the sink and flow water until the white light comes on indicating that the cylinder is a good one.
