10 CONTRACT AMENDMENT , THIS aGRH2MENT, entered into this 4th day of October, 1948, by and. between SOUTHERN ALKALI CORPORATION, a corporation organized and doing business under the lavs of the State of Delaware, with its principal place of business at Corpus Christi, Texas, and authorized to do business in the State of Louisiana (hereinafter called "Southern") and THE H. K. FERGUSON COMPANY, a corporation organized under the laws of the State of Ohio, with its principal place of business at Cleveland, Ohio, and authorized to do business in the State of Louisiana (hereinafter cailed "Contractor")j WITNESSETH That; WHEREAS, the parties hereto entered into a certain Contract dated June 10, 1946 whereunder Contractor undertook to perform for Southern certain work of plant clearance and removal required for the conversion of a portion of a government-owned magnesium plant near Lake Charles, Louisiana (Plancor 264) to a plant for the production of chlorine and electrolytic caustic soda as therein more fully detailed and specified; and WHEREAS, Article II of said Contract specified a lump sum contract price of 216,000 to be paid by Southern to Contractor for the performance of the work therein specified including removal work with respect to building K-304; and I 8B 0003324 | 0 ITEM #k - Chlorine Storage (Continued) directed by the Engineer. The wooden structures covering these tanka shall be dismantled'and the materials re-used, as directed by the Engineer. ITEM #5 - Chlorine Equipment Certain items of the chlorine equipment consist ing of coolers, condensers, exchangers, piping, etc. which are now located in the chlorine lique faction area and in the liquefaction building shall be removed by this contractor. The Engineer will indicate which of these items are to be re moved. Any of the items which are not re-used by the Agent, shall be stored where directed by the V.A.A. representative. ITEM #6 - Acid Equipment All of this equipment inclusive of towers, ex changers, piping, pumps, engines, furnaces, etc. shall be removed by this contractor. The two (2) large towers occurring in this area shall be dismantled in removal. The four (4) small towers shall be removed and stored as directed by the Engineer. Tne furnaces shall be dismantled in removal, and the debris shall be removed to the fill area and there deposited where directed by the Engineer. All engines, pumps, mechanical equipment, etc. shall be removed,'inspected, end stored where directed by the Engineer or the V.A.A. representative. ITEM 47 - Cell Control Instruments All metering end control instruments and devices in the cell buildings are to be removed tnd disposed of as directed by the Engineer or the V.A.A, representative. The control booths ej?e to be removed from buildings K-304, K-305> K-306. ITEM 48 - Temporary Vsrehouse Dismantle and dispose of materials a; directed by the Engineer or the to.a.A. representative. ! BB 0003326 | ITEM #1 - Cell Foundations Certain of the cell foundations now occurring in build ing K-306 shall be removed in their entirety by the Contractor. The Engineer will direct which of these foundations are to be removed to conform to Idle equipment layout. ITEM #2 - Furnace Foundations The furance foundations occurring in building K-307 shall be removed by this Contractor, The foundations shall be removed to a point below the original floor, and the floor shall be repaired to present a smooth, even surface. All debris resulting from this operation shall be removed and deposited in the fill area, where directed by the Engineer. ITEM #3 - Temporary Fninp The temporary ramp shall be removed and the materials forming same shall be removed to the fill area and deposited where directed by the Engineer. ITEM - Chlorine Storage The chlorine storage tanks shall be removed from their present location and moved to a point west of the liquefaction building, where directed by "the Engineer, The dilces and foundations shall be renjpved} all debris shall be placed in *. ie fill area where directed by the Engineer.
