The annual William F. Buckley Jr. Prize Dinner brings together an audience of conservative leaders, philanthropists, and friends of National Review Institute from around the country to celebrate the lasting legacy of William F. Buckley Jr and our esteemed honorees. The William F. Buckley Jr. Prize was created to honor those who advance the principles Buckley championed during his lifetime and foster the conservative movement that he helped launch.

The Prize for Leadership in Political Thought will be awarded to Tom Wolfe, recognizing his acclaimed writing and his influence on American culture over five decades. Bill Buclkley had a cherished friendship with Mr. Wolfe, and admired him as a unique man of letters. In 1970, on one of several Firing Line episodes with Mr. Wolfe, WFB described his guest as "probably the most slkillful writer in America ...he can do more things with words than anyone else."

Introduced by Arthur Brooks The Prize for Leadership in Supporting Liberty, which recogniz.es conservative philanthropy, will be awarded to Bruce and Suzie Kovner for their support and leadership of organizations that defend private enterprise, free marlkets and free trade, protect individual rights, and promote scholarly research that strengthens American democratic principles; for their support of education reform, particularly charter schools; and for their leadership of the major performing arts institutions of New York City. Bill Buckley loved free enterprise, classical liberalism, conservative policy reform, and the arts-especially music. Lilke Bill, Mr. Kovner plays the harpsichord. WFB also admired the lkind of philanthropy in which the Kovners have engaged for many years.
