(a) a policy question, do we want to spend the project and analytical costs on a study which could only give a bioremediation indicator at less than hazardous waste levels? and
(b) a technical question, are our planned analytical procedures adequate to measure results at the lower range?

This suggests that the original levels planned in MR7971 ("low" , 10-20 ppm, "high" 200-400 ppm) are (i) not available from CW wells and (ii) may be too high for growth anyway,
Bob plans to recheck these results and run a few test analyses for Pb. The entire MR as planned has now been estimated to generate about 600 Pb analyses at an added cost of about $12,000 ($20 each). However it looks as though the Pb levels in MR7971 may heed to be substantially reduced to levels which microorganisms will tolerate, that is <<5 ppm -- the current "hazardous waste trigger level".
