Bill Lehnert's group is working very hard on the elimination of asbestos fiber from all of our Joint Cement Products. PRIVILEGED INFORMATION HAS BEEN REDACTED FROM THIS DOCUMENT. SEE PRIVILEGE LOG FOR DESCRIPTION OF REDACTED INFORMATION. We have complied completely with OSHA requirements, and even exceeded their re quirements, with our warning labels. And though we have only recently been made aware of the serious nature of the problem, we have succeeded in removing asbes tos fiber from our texture line and have developed what appears to be a highly satisfactory asbestos free dry powder product which we are now marketing in Chic ago. As you and I discussed yesterday, our critical need is to accelerate the sales of our Asbestos Free Line of Dry Powder Products from Chicago. We must bring our sales of this line of products up to a level that will enable us to discon tinue the manufacture of our casein products at Chicago and we must do this as rapidly as possible. It occurs to me that perhaps our Branch Managers in the Midwest Region have not been informed of the critical nature of this program. The best way to get their support is to make them fully aware of the importance of this program to GeorgiaPacific and the nature of the possible consequences to our Company if we are not successful, or even slow, in implementing this change to asbestos free products. How do we best go about getting this story across to the Branch Managers; How about scheduling a round of sales meetings at each Branch? Me could sched ule a week of one night meetings assigning a different Branch each r.ite to all who are qualified to help in presenting our story. George Baitinger is certain ly qualified, and the Gypsum Division would be happy to provide 2 or 3 people to help. Four people could cover the entire region in one week.
