At this five-month mark, we have now billed $4,435.52 to Corporate Communications. We expect to be close to exhausting the $564.48 balance by the June billing. Thus, we are hereby requesting an additional budget from Corporate Communications not to exceed $5,000 for the second half of 1981 for the corporate 25% share of the Texas City health issue costs. As was fully explained in our January 9 proposal, this issue has clear national issue implications for Carbide and our role as counselors has been to give local plant management our expertise in communications planning and implementation. One major focus of our efforts in the second half of 1981 will be to try and move the company into a leadership role on the issue with a national press conference hosted at the plant. For your information, we have already gotten an extension on the Texas City plant's commitment for 75% of our costs through June, 1982. The only remaining concern is'the corporate commitment for the balance of the year. I will appreciate hearing back from you shortly on this so we may proceed with projects currently underway.
