jlggg \ /^ o Dr. J. F. Knox, North Beightons, lovorfold, Rochdale. Friday, 23rd July, 1 9 5 4. Dear Dr. Knox, Many thank3 for your letter of yesterday* 3 date and its enclosures. I am glad to see that you have been able to find the draft of your original letter of 12th April 1953 to Dr. Doll, and this of course confirms what you told mo as to the manner in which he was approached. Dr. Doll13 later letter to yourself of 21st May 1953, which you have also sent me, is interesting in so far as it show3 the difficulties of arriving at definite conclusions, but it does not of course contain any reference to the basis of collaboration botveen you and himself. As you know, what I wantod to discover was whether there was any evidence, and if so what, as to the terms and conditions agreed, and the answer seems to be that, as Dr. Doll said (on the first occasion when you met him) that there could bo no question of a foe being paid, the whole position was left completely in the air, so to speak. At the moment I do not think that there is any further information which I need from you, but if I find that , . , Athere are any points which requiro elucidation I will get in touch with you. Yours faithfully, for TURNER & NEWAIL LIMITED, JLC/EJB o 0 0 4r"\
