At the tine of the operation I found a cyst about as large as an orange situated somewhat a b o u t the middle of the body of the pancreas and the rest of th< pancreas was enormously swollen and congested. The interesting thing about this case is that a short time before he had been treated for lead poisoning which had been proven by a blood examination. The thought came to me as to whether lead could produce Pancreatitis followed by cystic formation. I could find nothing in the literature and consulted the Bureau of W. P. Pryor Co. The latter company sent me a report of a french surgeon who had observed six cases of Pancreatitis within a period of less than one year, all of whom except one, had lead poisoning. Operation in each case revealed either Pancreatitis or cyst of the pahcreas.
