At the end of the month the plant had worked 298 days since the last disabling injury. Surveys were conducted to identify potential accidents from splashes of hot or hazardous materials and potential failures of plastic equipment. Work is proceeding well on the survey teams' recommended changes. Two OSHA industrial hygienists spent 7 days in the plant reviewing records and monitoring for VCM and lead. Resin production was 28.7 MM pounds establishing a new monthly record. The old record was 26.8 MM pounds. Quality performance was excellent at 99,32% customer grade. VCM efficiency was 1.0339 versus a 1.0196 standard. Improvements in dust collector operation should improve efficiency in June. Compound production totaled 5.0 MM pounds with both lines continuing on a 7 day operation. Quality performance was 2.8% off-grade of which 58% was due to mill scrap. Reblending of BC grade inventory totaled 330 M pounds. Dry Blend production totaled 4.2 MM pounds operating on a 5 day week basis. Production of 80274 was .9 MM pounds thereby emptying a large silo of offgrade 5425 raw material for 80274. This silo is now back in prime resin service. Plasticizer production totaled 1.497 MM pounds including VRP for a new monthly production record. The last record was 1.338 MM established in August 1976. All foundation work for the specialty compound line was completed and prefabrication is proceeding for the mechanical portion of the project. Total plant variable cost variances were ($350.6 M) unfavorable with ($350.3 M) due to price and ($0.3 M) due to efficiency. VCM transfer price contributed ($288.9 M) of the price variance. Preliminary fixed costs show a ($78.4 M) unfavorable variance with the major variances in utilities, operating supplies and maintenance supplies. Curry L.
