Residue (H8-759A)
The residue contains at least three phases; a primarily aqueous liquid phase, a primarily organic liquid phase and solids suspended in the liquid phases. - .. Recoveries and analytical results differ for different samples taken from the organic phase, hence it is nonhomogeneous. - Based on our analyses and preliminary results of highresolution GC/MS at the University of Nebraska, the organic portion of the residue contains 0.5 - 2 ppm of a material with the analytical characteristics of 2, 3, 7, 8- TCOD, and at least an equivalent amount of material with the analytical characteristics of 1, 3, 6, 8- TCOD. The.actual level of the latter may be significantly higher, because recoveries are low. We have identified the step in the analysis where loss of 1, 3, 6, 8- TCDO occurs; we are modifying the method accordingly^
