MATERIAL
1. All asbestos scrap and cleanings will be placed in Plastic Bags or other approved sealed containers. (Wet Material)
2. All containers of asbestos will be labeled in accordance with OSHA 1910 93 A
(We will use our "Stick on" label)
3. Stock pile all containers until we get one or two dumpster loads to carry to the Port Dump.
4. Contact the Port the day before we plan to dispose of material.

Asbestos
An inspection of the waste asbestos storage area was conducted today; the results are as follows:
The area is located outside (east) of Bldg. 162. There are approximately 25-30 large plastic bags half filled with wet asbestos scraps. The bags are tied closed with masking tape. One bag is completely open (not tied). Some of the bags are tagged as to their content but most are not tagged or labeled in any way. Two of the bags have split open. The area, while seldom used, is not posted nor fenced in. There are enough bags to fill at least one dumpster. It would probably be a good idea to haul them to the Port dump.
There are no asbestos handling instructions in the Maintenance Procedures Manual (1976), however a letter was written by Ashton Barefoot to all B&R foremen addressing this particular subject (attached).
