Memo concerning Item #2 of Minutes of Operating Committee of July 3it 1958
Inspection of TEL Plant of S. L. Q. I, Bologna, Italy Inasmuch as this plant (or perhaps another plant of S. L. O. I. at
Ravenna* if there is another in existence at this time) has been badly operated (and perhaps badly designed) so that numerous cases of tetraethyl lead poi soning have occurred among the employees* the medical and hygienic situation is of considerable significance here. It could be an important factor in the future operation of this plant. It would appear* therefore, that this aspect of the situation should be looked into carefully.
It is probably unnecessary that a member of the Medical Department should visit the plant in person, but the nature of the inquiry into these matters should be discussed with me before the inspection team gets under way, so that the necessary information can be obtained.
Robert A. Kehoe, M.D. Medical Director
