The asbestos content of each filter sample was analyzes following NIOSH procedure P&CAH 2J9. Wedges from eacT filter were examined at 450 power using polarizing and phase contrast microscopes. Birefrmgent fibers longer tnan five (5) microns with a length-to-width ratio of 3:1 or more were counted as asbestos.
