It isn't clear to me from reading Dr. Irons' new budget proposal whether he intends to take on the case-control support currently funded by a separate API contract with Dr. Fu (the one that expires at the end of this year). I previously corresponded with Otto and Rob Schnatter about renewing Dr. Fu's contract (before the lost NHL cases). Both supported maintaining the current scope of work with Otto suggesting more database support and travel money. Based on that I got the Oversight Committee to endorse adding up to $100,000 to renew the Fudan contract. I have attached the draft budget I was working on to present to Dr. Fu. Now that the lost NHL cases seem to have extended patient recruitment into 2008, we need to start over. Your help would be greatly appreciated. As a starting point, does Dr. Fu expect to continue supporting the case-control study as part of Dr. Irons' budget, or do we still need a separate contract with API? Otto - I copied you because you are the one most impacted by how this issue is handled. Do you have a preference on how the case-control study support is funded? Would you like to handle it directly with Dr. Fu through AHS? Shan and Otto, maybe we should have a conference call before we contact Dr. Fu? Let me know you are available this week.
