Primeau Copies: Re: PVC Monthly Report October, 1974 Operating Summary The PVC plant operated to produce 7, 306M lbs. of resin of which 7, 118M lbs. was prime resin. Both, the total production and the prime resin production were new monthly records for the plant. Vinyl Chloride efficiency for the month was 94. 0% versus a budget of 94. 5%. If is felt that the major cause of the below budget VC1 efficiency can be attributed to the poor condition of the pro duct collection system. This problem will be rectified with the installation of cyclone collection systems during the latter part of November, 1974. The PVC bagging unit packaged 955M lbs. of resin versus a budget of 1, 383M lbs. Bulk resin shipments totalled 6, 828M lbs. for October, 1974. Production cost variance for the month of October was: 7421 - PVC Production - $80, 025 7424 - PVC Bagging - 1, 690 Total Variance - $81, 715 Favorable A detailed report on the PVC plant operation and cost variance has been prepared by D. H. Francke. II. PVC Expansion Project A. A meeting was held with the engineering firm, HDR and the initial critical path for the project was developed. HDR assigned George Gallo as project manager for their group. B. The process flow sheets were up-dated and currently are being prepared by the drafting group. Long delivery equipment required for the project are being specified in detail with the target of having all of this equip ment out for quotes by 15 November 1974. D. Bid specifications, for the stainless steel piping required in the PVC project have been prepared and will be issued for quotes on 5 November, 1974. Bid packages for the control system were prepared and issued for quotes on 11 October 1974 with request for responses by 15 November, 1974. b'. D. DeVille prepared and issued a detailed reporting and filing system for the project. Project work for November will include the initiation of detailed engineering packages, review of control systems and selection of a vendor, preparation of the final plot plan and ordering of some critical equipment. [II. Chemical Cleaning Jim Tolar has issued a separate report discussing the work done in ctober on the Chemical Cleaning Solvent Recovery Project. Jim completed the pilot plant installation to test the steam precipitation :echnique for recovery of DMF and started the unit up the last day of October.
