The defendant Eagle-Picher would answer the Interrogatories
dated April 30, 1982 as follows:
Information provided herein, except where indicated for
Eagle-Picher, is with respect only to the Fibers Department
of the Chemicals and Fibers Division of Eagle-Picher Industries,
Inc. (which department of that Division is hereinafter referred
to as the "Company"), since it is the only unit of defendant which
ever has produced or distributed industrial insulation with which
the plaintiff may have come in contact.
1. Please tell me the content in a product manufactured by
Eagle-Picher entitled PV Supertemp Block.
Answer: Granulated wool, starch, Bentonite Clay, and
aluminum sulfate.
2. With regard to PV Supertemp Block, does it contain
asbestos? At anytime that it was marketed by Eagle-Picher, did
it contain asbestos?
Answer : No .
3 . To what temperature did PV Supertemp.Block insulate to? At various times it was manufactured, what were the dates of
manufacture of PV Supertemp Block? Answer: Service temperature - to 1900 F. PV Supertemp Block has been manufactured from approximate!
1952 to the present. 4. Please tell me the content in a produce [sic] manufactured by Eagle-Picher entitled 857 Magnesia?
Answer: The Company did not manufacture 85/> Magnesia.
5. With regard to 857 Magnesia, does it contain asbestos?
At anytime that it was marketed by Eagle-Picher, did it contain
asbestos? Answer:
8570 Magnesia Pipe Covering and Insulation
was formerly sold but not manufactured by the Company
from 1956 to 1960. During the- time the Company sold
the product it contained asbestos. 6. To what temperature did 85% Magnesia insulate to? At various times it was manufactured, what were the dates of
manufacture of 85% Magnesia? Answer: Service temperature of 857, Magnesia Pipe Covering during the period that it was sold by the Company was to 600 F. The Company did not manufactur
857, Magnesia Pipe Covering and Insulation. 7. Who manufactured PV Supertemp Block and where was it
manufactured? Answer:
The Company manufactured PV Supertemp Block
at its facility in Joplin, Missouri.
8. Who manufactured 85% Magnesia and where was it
manufactured? Answer:
The Company purchased 85% Magnesia and Pipe
Covering from Philip Carey Company, Lockland, Ohio
(its manufacturing plant was in Plymouth Meeting,
- Pennsylvania).

9. Please tell me the content of a produce [sic]
manufactured by Eagle-Picher entitled Number 77 Pipecovering.
Answer: Mineral wool, metal fabrics, galvanized
tie w7ire or metal lath.

10. With regard to Number 77 Pipecovering, does it contain
asbestos? At anytime that it was marketed by Eagle-Picher, did
it contain asbestos?
Answer: The Company no longer manufactures 77 Pipe
Covering. It has never contained asbestos.
11. To wdiat temperature did Number 77 Pipecovering insulate
to? At various times it was manufactured, what were the dates of
manufacture of Number 77 Pipecovering? Answer: Service temperature - to 1200 F.
The Company
manufactured 77 Pipe Covering from 1931 to 1957.
12. Who manufactured Number 77 Pipecovering and where was
it manufactured?
Answer: The Company formerly manufactured 77 Pipe
' Covering at its facility in Joplin, Missouri.
