Priority Short List of Issues that will Plague You
FIFRA and TSCA as not served well by an organization with a title implying chemical safety. I had a minor heart attack with the title change -- nothing is safe. There is always a toxic level.
List of 83 created after Mr Auer left was a marketing ploy and poorly implemented ending with poor results. Attorneys should not be in charge of science organizations!!!
The shorter black list containing asbestos and carbon tetrachloride --Mr Auer nor Dr Hernandez would have allowed these. Carbon tet was a flag for me. A disappointment.
EPA seems to be under the impression that updating risk assessments for well studied and known toxic chemicals is good work or good press. To me, the ROI is not there and unless there are significant new DATA, existing assessments should be our library and resource. Doing over and over is a waste of funds and not the mission.
Web sites like Chem View are redundant and wasteful. Very few users can easily tell good information from poor or useless information at this site. Are CHALLENGE summaries based on good information and was the only primary reviewer primarily Mark Townsend. Did any OECD SIDS assessments get Agency review or again were most just me. LOL always fascinated me that i was the final reviewer. And, yes if i had questions I discuss with Dr. Hernandez.
This is my short list. My mixed background always made me a tad irritating during decision meetings for TSCA section 4, 5, 6 and 8. But for the most part i loved working at EPA. Poor staff and the Unions comprised mostly of the same poor staff were another road block.
Are YOU having fun yet?
