The Honorable Scott Pruitt Administrator U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 1200 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20004
Dear Administrator Pruitt,
Thank you so much for taking the time to travel to Sowa last week to discuss the Water of the United States (WOTUS) and hear directly from Sows farmers. As you are well aware, the 2015 Obama Administration WOTUS rule was a prime example of federal overreach and posed a major threat to farmers working their land, as well as water quality projects across the state. Your commitment to listening to state feedback and getting the rule right the second time around is greatly appreciated.
1'would like to take this opportunity to invite you back to Iowa this fail to learn more about another issue that is incredibly important to Iowa farmers and the entire state; renewable fuels. Late September and early October Is harvest time and would allow for the perfect opportunity to see Iowa farmers hard at 'work. I encourage you to visit one of our many ethanol plants, a biodiesei plant, and a cellulosic facility to see how resourceful our farmers truly are. At these thriving businesses you will get a taste for how vital these facilities are to our rural communities, as well as the important role they play in providing a reliable renewable fuels source.
While in iowa, i would also be honored to host you for a dinner at Terrace Hill, it was such an honor to have you stop by during your recent trip to iowa and I would be thrilled to host you again.
For your convenience, ! have also enclosed a copy of my testimony before the EPA regarding the proposed RFS. I traveled to Washington, D.C. with Governor Ricketts to testify in the hopes of bringing more awareness to this incredibly important issue.
Thanks, again, for your time in our state and I look forward to hosting you again.
