T. Braxton, J. Boyce, S. Tate, M. Tyson, L. Calvin, W. Bell, W. Smith, F. Powers, E. Cross, C. Rorer, W. Lee, C. Hodge, C. Perz and M. Posey. The following topics were discussed: 1. Safety equipment. 2. Hygiene. 3. Lead in blood. 4. Safety precautions for handling materials. One copy each of required safety equipment, hygiene practices, respirator program, and safety precautions for handling stabilizers and raw materials were given to all men attending the meeting. The following comments were made by the men: !. Five people don't have brushes for cleaning finger nails. 2. One man didn't have a container for respirator. 3. That all men should have a container with respirator filters locked. 4. Shaker switch on 908 mill is not working. 5. Litharge mill switch is broken. 6. Sulfate mill - dust shoots out. 7. Respirators don't fit when glasses are worn. CYWI 3-000989 C VAiVA MXO 3. Respirator straps pop out. 9. Safer handling of sulfuric acid for making 5C3 in the Cowles unit. 10. Hot water leaks from the Cowles platform and drops on people while working on the slurry pump. 11. Installation of safety shower on the Cowles platform. 12. Not enough covers to keep all product containers covered. 13. All men don't have aprons. Somebody made a comment that OSHA said to take the aprons out. 14. Oust causes eye irritation. Sweat from the forehead washes dust into the eyes. 15. One man didn't receive safety glasses and is wearing goggles instead. 16. Lot of money is being spent to evaluate problems, but not enough to correct them. Remarks: The men appeared interested to perform their duties under better working conditions, but it is quite obvious that a serious credibility gap exists between our working force and the management of the Chicago plant.
