Series which was negative he had a G.B. Series which was also negative The patient had a aputa done which showed no tuberculosis or acid fast bacilli His blood chemistry and serology were negative tive His count was relatively normal sed elevated and he had a EKG done which showed this time His urine was nega- rate was alightly normal tracings at His third admission was 8-12-52 at which time the patient again was admittetdo the hospital with a complaint of difficulty in breathing He was very much improved from the last admission until approximately two weeks ago when he went back to work He had been relatively free of shortness of breath cough as men- tioned previously The patient stated that since admissiohne had been taking square purple tablets which dissolved on his tongue He has had only occasional difficulty in breathing since then This recent episode he describes and characterized by gasping for breath as being quite severe and a great deal of difficulty in breathing He has had a productive cough and chest pain on the right which comes on while moving in a certain posi- tion not while coughing His shortness of breath is so bad that he could not walk upstairs at all without stopping and gasping for breath He has had some difficulty in night breathing of late He was advised by me to be admitted for further evaluation - 3+ and treatment On this admission of 8-12-52 the repeat chest ray done which showed a patient had a . fibrosis which was seen again This specific diffuse bleb formation The hilar shadows was associated with some are some were prominent and there calcific This patient has densities This could be due to silicosis years apparently worked The diagnosis is in an asbestos plant for 30 flammatory or infiltrativeasbleesstioosnis - no new evidence of in- The patient was discharged from the hospital after 8 talization Discharge date was 8-20-52 days hospi- Previous time the to this there was an admission patient was admitted to the on 11-20-51 at which hospital for 7 days for hospital and remained treatment of in the this admission he gave a shortness of breath At worker for the history of having been an asbestos past 30 years He developed cough during the Winter and has shortness of breath on sode he became walking With this epi- tal where a suddenly dyspneic chest and was brought to the hospi- plate was done which showed no . of any pleural effusion The lung fields were gross evidence but previous rays has an asbestosis and from the history this A picture of the abdomen relatively clear patient definitely but none could be determined He has had was done for fluid of his face and nails Heart rate rales and some cyanosis showed a normal EKG He was given was normal EKG was done which some bronchial relaxents and w aa ns d given some ammonium chloride for weight loss and given demerol - placed on sedation able to He progressed very satisfactorily was was walk for sent home on a distance of the hallway some benylin expecotrant in the hospital and a form of antihista- mine cough syrup some asbestosia The patient is to be under observation for Patient had another admission 12-10-51 and his 12-20-51 a total of 10 days in the hospital discharge date was His that time was shortness of breath cough and complaint at feeling of gestion in the sion On this chest This was the admission further patient's con- fourth WH admis- blood work which were ray checkups were done and again At this normal Diagnosis of asbestosis was made which gave him trip to the hospital he was placed some dramatic relief and the patient on some ACTH improved However this is very much guarded was very much since his tion is permanent and he will of necessity take or ACTH for his pulmonary fibrosis or sillicosis condieither cortone it is called or asbestosis as : The patient was admitted to WH again 12-30-52 1-20-53 The usual complaint of shortness of and discharged tightness about the cheat and breath cough inability to climb stairs was made on c] aed t 4- On this trip again G.I.
