Hello Brent, Yes, I was at the meeting with Met and the Secretary, and the Secretary has indeed asked me to ride herd on CA WaterFix. My impression is that the primary effort right now is to help NMFS become comfortable with dropping or modifying the Scenario 6 language in the biological opinion.
If you and your colleagues have other/different ideas, I'd be pleased to hear them.
My goal is to have a decision this spring that is acceptable to the Governor, acceptable to the Secretary, works for the four key water districts, does not violate the ESA, and is acceptable to the key water players in the Congressional delegation.
Thanks, Scott Scott J. Cameron Special Assistant Office of the Secretary of the Interior Desk 202 208 0969 Cell 202 706 9031

Hi Scott and Kerry:
I left voicemail with Scott's scheduling assistant at 208-3186, but thought I'd also follow up with an email.
My name is Brent Walthall. We met briefly in early March when I was back in D.C. with ACWA.
I understand from Roger Patterson that you were at the meeting between MWD and the Secretary and that one of the outcomes of that meeting was a decision to try and improve the California WaterFix.
I am working with staff from Kern County, Metropolitan, Westlands, and San Luis DeltaMendota to develop suggested changes that can improve the California WaterFix. We have briefed David Murillo on those improvements conceptually and are now developing the details.
If you have a few moments I'd like to talk to you about the suggested improvements we are developing to see if they are consistent with what you and Eric (NMFS) need us to produce.
If you have a few minutes to talk I can let you know what were are producing, when I expect to have it ready and determine if it is what you and Eric need from us.
Of course, you can reach me anytime at (916) 952-9821.
Thank you, Brent Walthall Kern County Water Agency
