This write-up was made about two years ago and had been reviewed by Mr. Weaver, of Raybestos Manhattan, Inc. and the writer la order to up-date i t . However, in the la st review Mr. Paul Lee of Raybestos suggested "Recommended Procedures for Reducing Asbestos Dust during Brake Servicing." A copy is enclosed. ' Mrv-1tee i and Mr Weaver concurs, th a t this "Recommended Procedures for Reducing Asbestos Dust during Brake Servicing" is more concise and to the point' as concerns procedures to be used in brake service areas. I t is also more in harmony with the KIOSH recommendations. I t i s suggested that the In s titu te endorse such a w rite-up, or review the existin g draft procedures that might be recommended to brake service-shops when working with asbestos containing brake lin in g s . I suggest that you review this one page write-up and compare i t with the e a rlie r write-up and perhaps review i t along side of the NIOSH recommendations. The In stitu te would lik e to prepare a fin a l write-up in th is area that could be' used for distribution when questions are received from the news media' and others interested in the asbestos problem.
