Cole SUBJECT: Seminar on Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Thursday, 31 July, 1980, The University Club, Washington, D.J. 10:00 AM The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) is potentially one of the most costly and certainly one of the most complex of the recent environmental regula tions. Its impact will be felt throughout industry and could be especially cost ly to the metals industry. Basically, RCRA establishes a "cradle-to-grave" method ology for the handling and disposition o ndustrial wastes. The detailed require ments were announced in the May 19, 1980 ,ssue of the Federal Register. However, many of these requirements are somewhat vague and will be subject to interpretation. LIA/ZI/CC members are urged to attend this Seminar in order to learn more of the requirements of RCRA and to identify problem areas in need of further information. We will have presentations from industry personnel, legal counsel and EPA personnel. A panel made up of industry experts on RCRA will attempt to answer questions about how the metals industry can cope with the new regulations. A copy of the Agenda is enclosed for your information. Certainly, nearly every company will be impacted by RCRA. Therefore, we would urge your attendance.
