Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corp. (Use of Patents)
Mr. Tucker, Mr. MacAlpine and the writer have checked the patents, listed as A. and B., which have been offered for use under proposed
agreements by above mentioned company.
Under list A we find 28 patents that may be of value as our program on glass fiber progresses. Under list B we find nine patents which may be of interest as we develop products. All the above patents should be carefully considered.
We believe that our present glass fiber process when completed need not necessarily conflict with Owens-Corning patents, although it would probably avoid difficulty if we had licenses on the more questionable patents. The use of alloyed metals for orifice plates such as nickel-platinum compositions may assist us in using high melting point glasses without the cost of pure platinum metal plates. If this proves true then use of patents on such compositions may be of value, hence we have included one patent in A list on this subject.
We have also included two patents on Framework for Air Filters
as we understand the patent situation on this has been complicated by American Air Filter patents.
We are returning herewith your file, loaned to us by Mrs. McDougall.
