S. $6k Minimum Roll height Requirements Ton have recently requested the Materials Development Laboratory to issue a revision on the above Purchase Specification reflecting a mini mum roll weight. In reviewing this subject with Messrs? Winchester and Johnson, we find a significant problem area. Mr. Winchester has requested a minimum roll weight of not less than 1,500 pounds. This would minimise the number of coil changes on the continuous production equipment thereby maintaining as high a production rate as possible. Mr. Johnson has indicated that he would not accept a Purchase Specification having a minimum roll weight. His reasons are that normal production variations will occasionally yield rolls weighing as little as U00 pounds. Ha did not feel that he could accept a specification require ment which would preclude possibility of using these rolls. tinder the circumstances, we can not see any point to issuing^ revised tentative Purchase Specification until these differences are re solved.
