Dear Mr. Schaefer: Thanks for the forwarding of your correspond ence with Mr. Mittnacht in the matter of the opening of drums of ETHYL fluid by prohibition agents* I have gone over the correspondence and I share your feeling as to the seriousness of this situation in so far as tampering with drums means a risk in the subsequent shipment of the drum because of spillage and leakage. However, I have informed Mr. Mittnacht in a letter to him this morning that I do not share your worry about what happens to the two agents. Doubtless these men are operating under orders arid consequently the dangers are not of their own choosing, but I do not feel that my assistants or myself can afford to waste our time in preventing the consequences of the stupid activity of the prohibition agents. Their job has its own haz ards which, so fr as I can see, are none of my affair. However, I await the suggestion of Mr, Mittnacht in the matter since there may be some reason which I have over looked which makes it advisable to look into the case of these men.
