Shis revealed that increased feed and air rates have increased noise levels at the JX5C hy 9 to 12 decibels (sound pressure doubles for each 3 decibel increase*) Koise levels have increased up to 15 decibels at our fence line cosrpeired to the 19^1 survey. X& adjacent Romona addition sound levels are as sjuch aa 14 decibels above the typical criterion for a residential neighborhood. Proposal: Spray a three inch thick coating of "Limpet" insulation on the external surfaces of the flue gas system from top slide valve to precipi tator. Based on Pascagoula* a experience with, a simlliar installation, a reduction of 15 to 20 decibels should be achieved at the precipitator. This would reduce noise levels down to and possibly slightly below 1961 Isvela. A Corresponding reduction in noise level will result at our fence boundary and in Banana !Cract* Justification: Informal Information indicates that Ramona residents are thinking of presenting a complaint to the City. With- the noise levels measured during the survey, possible Giigr enforced sound induction is likely, which would result in bad publicity.
