Batt Current law still permits 0.5% lead in the dried paint film. The U. S. Senate has already passed a bill which will permit a reduction down to 0.06% unless the CPSC rules that some other lead level is permissible (between 0.06% and 0.5%). If the CPSC does not act on this within the next 6 months, chances are that Congress will reduce permissible lead level to 0.06% by July, 1977.
