There were no recordable injuries during this period. Y.T.D. I.E.A. is 4.47. The plant was the subject of an OSHA audit which resulted from our invitation to OSHA a year ago when we received ."STAR" recognition. Cliff Hellings was present for the one day audit. IV. TECHNICAL A. EXTRUDATES Draft of final sales brochure has been completed. The Extructor is now running routinely 8-12 hours/ day, 5-6 days/week. However, we still have some production impediments to resolve before we establish a continuous running operation. 1-000163 IV. TECHNICAL ( continued) 3 B. PPG Lab work is continuing to optimize the solids content for producting 2-1-0 form. We hope to be able to try in the plant early in November. A meeting has been tentatively scheduled for 11/19/84 in East Point, Ga. We now have a sample of Lead Cyanamid that PPG considers suitable. We are looking at having CRD do preliminary work on process development. C . PACKARD ELECTRIC We now have the formulation Packard wishes us to use. Lab work will begin in November. D. LECTRO 105 and 65 These two new offerings from Associated Lead have been analyzed. Our best estimate of their compositions is: Lectro 65: A Monobasic Sulfo - Phthalate with a ratio of 26% Sulfate to 74% Phthalate. Lectro 105: A blend of 43% Tribase EXL, 52% Dythal, and 5% Calcium Carbonate. Based on this information, we are now attempting to develope similar stabilizers. E. LYNN PLASTICS Lynn found that Cyastab 949 darkened more than Lectro 90 in 'their formulation after 100 minutes at 220C. Using Lynn's formulation we developed a stabilizer which equals the performance of Lectro 90. This stabilizer is a blend of 78% 913, 17% Calcium Carbonate and 5% Barium Stearate. Report has been issued. CYWI 1-000164 IV. TECHNICAL (continued) 4 F. CAPITAL WIRE A stabilizer was found to replace Envirostab 1160 across - the - board in Capital's formulations. Initially, three candidates were screened in Capital's 105 THH compound. The best candidate, Cyastab 918, was then compared to Envirostab 1160 in the other three form ulations provided by the customer. G. GEORGIA PACIFIC All materials for re- testing are in the hands of Bridgewater Technical Service. H. TENNECO Cyastab 800-0 is as good as Tribase - oiled electrically. 523 - 0 will be made in the laboratory using this 800-0 and Barium Stearate. This, we expect, to be the equivalent of tribase XL - oiled. V. GENERAL A. Lead price now at 22$ lb. Amax, St. Joe, and Asarco still have strikes in either their mines or smelters but all are operating (at low levels) with salary personnel. The reduced domestic production coupled with the very low European inventory and the expected surge in lead orders by battery people should result in an escalation in lead price. To protect against this increase and possible lead shortage we have purchased enough lead to carry us into the 1st quarter of 1985. 3. MEETINGS AND VISITORS 1. We will reinstate & actively pursue our program for running dryer tests for Lead Sulfates & Phthalates. A new dryer will: be energy efficient increase thruput eliminate black specks problems with Lead Phthalate The reasoning for the above is that the existing P & S dryer is proving to be an unsatisfactory processing tool due to quality and maintenance problem.
