Injury and Exposure Trends Regarding our injury trends, injury incidence is increasing. The general consensus is that our emphasis in the safety area has slipped. Housekeeping is an indication of this. Also, the seriousness of the injuries we have experienced has in creased. Along with this, there are attitude problems that relate to the Bud Stone injury. In order to improve safety performance plant wide, the following items will be done: John Friend will discuss safety attitudes and performance trends in his employee meetings. - Department Heads will poll supervisory personnel in their area to determine how we can achieve this goal. Departmental program plans will be submitted by January 15, 1986 to John Friend. Fmphasis items will include... Communications - Things to be done i.e., structured audits and other similar measurable items JF needs input The chemical exposure program for VCM and lead is tracking on a trend line less than goal. II. Sub-Committee Progress Interlock and Alarm Setpoint - Completed items include Boilers, Dryers, Incinerators, Catalyst Freezers, and AMS Kill Pots. The Reactors will be done beginning in January. Blinding - Progress is stated in the agenda. Tools - Procedures for chain falls will be ready prior to our next Safety Committee Meeting. Operations, Maintenance, Lab - as noted in the agenda. Other Items - Scott air pack voice amplifier - will try units in sling packs to determine usefulness. Injury Reporting - will redesign forms to improve ease of filling out. - Mandatory Training items - Department Heads to provide feedback following meetings with supervisors. - Respirator Program - enforcement of hair in seal areas needs to be uniformly enforced plant wide.
