As it turns out, I can do very little about this situation.
Fact No. 1, the only asbestos we ship into Nigeria is under our contract with Eternit.
Fact No. 2, Eternit has full management control of these operations in Nigeria and whether or not we are a minority interest stockholder doesn't matter - we actually don't know what is going on there and have no control.
Therefore, the best approach to resolve this situation is through McKinney to Stephan Schmidheiny. In other words, this has to be done through the top.
As I have requested a top management meeting between J-M and Eternit on the asbestos health problems, this would seem to be a good time to take up this situation.
I, therefore, suggest that we can both recommend to McKinney that he take this situation up directly with Eternit.
