Paramount Raflnary. which covers justifications and supportive reasoning for Industrial hygiene reconesndatlons for tha provision of showers for asbestos workers. Aid has been given to answering a question frou tha Lake Charles Refinery in reference to application of tha bansane standard and our responsibility to contractors. We nada a statanant that la all cases the bensaae standard refers to exposure to enployees. It was re e rantTided that If monitoring establishes that a contractor's personnel nay be exposed to benxane, then he should be notified of the feet. We should supply bin with a copy of the bensaae standard and he should be responsible for nesting the standard for his own personnel. Aid has been given to Mr* Jess Sodovsky, Safety Director, Ponca City Refinery, concerning the rae wended Industrial hygiene health procedures for use of a polyester (pheaylethylene) for internal coating of tanks. Additional safety/health data will be supplied us by the manufacturer of the product. Aid has been given to Mr. J. Rackets, Refinery Technical Services Laboratory, concerning first aid traatnent of persons who coaw Into contact with hot asphalt. The laaedlata traatnent Is quenching the area of contact with cold water, packing in ice or chilled water while transporting to the hospital and medical aid, sad traatnent at the physician's discretion. Hopes are to have a lumber of participants cowering the applicable subjects which can be meaningful for refinery Industrial hygiene problems. This is for the pnrpoee of satisfying an agreement signed by refining that such training woutt be offered.
