I spoke with my current VP of HES who will also be the VP of HSE for the new organization, ConocoPhillips. I was delighted to have Dennis Parker, current VP of SHE for Conoco also join the conversation. (yes, all the acronyms for Health, Safety and Environment are correct, not just typos) . The decision was that this should be presented to the NEW ConocoPhillips Management Committee which will not meet, of course, until after the merger is closed/announced. The best I can really offer you is that Dennis was a big help in explaining to the new VP why Conoco joined the consortium. He pointed out that Conoco signed a contract, therefore, the Conoco side is in. I have also talked to other people inside my organization that were nay-sayers at the time to indicate their prior concerns have been resolved. Don do you have anyone in your management group that might be willing to call my VP and discuss why BP joined the consortium??? My concern is that the former Conoco VP is retiring and will not be present the next time this discussion takes place. I will keep you informed of any developments.
