Comments on specific items of interest follow. Text of several of the changes are also attached. 1. Changes 1 thru 4. Adopted. Continue combustible construction restrictions on use of plastic pipe. Will continue the restrictive language. 2. Changes 23 and 24. Adopted. Will require listing of PVC pipe in fire resistive assemblies for that purpose. If such listings (beyond current ASTM/NSF listings) are required, a substantial burden will be added for the pipe producers to operate in this construction industry segment which should be a growth area. 3. Changes 34, 35, 36 and 37. Defeated. Similar to other PPFA submissions to remove combustible construction restrictions. 7. Item IV-2-A (2). Approved as revised. Item provides an installation standard for PVC cold water supply and yard piping. Plastic Pipe Ad Hoc Committee minutes were approved. The Committee considered adoption of ASTM F949-86A. (PVC corrugated sewer pipe standard). Refer to Committee to develop an installation standard. Standards Item 4-3-A (1). Refer the PS 8-77 and CSA items to an Ad Hoc Committee. ANSI standard approved. Motion to adopt PS 8-77 and adopt the CSA standard. These would include PVC drairr, waste and vent pipe and pipe fittings along with ANSI A112.14.1. An item calling for adoption of the ASTM D45511 standard (standard related to PVC flexible concealed water containment membranes) was approved. Item V-2-(J). Referred to Ad Hoc Committee. Adoption of NSF Standard 14. Relates to polybutylene water distribution systems. Item V-2-(M). Approved. Motion to adopt ASTM F891. Standard for co-extruded PVC plastic pipe with cellular core. Group of items including ASTM D1785, 2467, 2607, 2661, 2665, 2672, 2846 and F439 and F628 were considered. Approved. All were PPFA sponsored changes to include updates of ASTM Standard. Item V-5-(E). Rejected. Revision to IAPMO installation standard 9-87-PVC-DWV pipe fittings. Submitted by the City of Los Angeles. Change V-5-(F). Adopted. (b) No fitting or connection that offers abnormal obstruction to flow shall be used. The enlargement of a three (3) inch (76.2mm) closet bend or stub to four (4) inches (101.6mm) shall not be considered an obstruction. REASON FOR REVISION: 1.
