Forsthoffer 0-5 The 1st Quarter Safety & Housekeeping Inspection for Dept. 13/14 was conducted on April 16 by the inspection team of Ed Dowden, Paul Saunders and Bob Hammann-. Overall, the unit was in good condition considering the work being done to start up after the crash shutdown several days previously. The inspection team would like to commend all personnel in the unit for the improvements made. It is quite evident the unit looks a lot better than it has in a long time. The following specific items need to be corrected: Safety 1. All hose connections at breathing air manifold BA-3 are frozen. Need to be replaced. 2. Guards missing on 13P28 and 13P41. 3. Scaffold at 13S4 does not have a toe plate. 4. Boilermaker shop: (a) Hose not inspected; (b) lots of wood stacked in the shop - too much flammables. 5. Eyebaths in Dept. 13 recovery area - second deck, need to turn 45 for better access; third deck, needs new rubber. 6. Safety shower, 13-5, south side of catalyst building, needs signs replaced. No safety shower or eyebath signs on third deck east in Dept. 14. In fact, it would be a good idea to check all safety showers as many signs are in poor condition. 7. Cage ladder on south side of recovery area - cage is too high, approximately 12' before it starts - should be 7-8' off the ground. 8. Baling wire on relief valve extension on 14Z2. 9. Thermocouple wire on 3rd deck on 14D2 is hanging loose. 11. Safety check sheet for January (monthly sheet) not completed. Housekeeping 1. Mess around 13S9 - need to complete drainage work. 2. Trash on all levels of Dept. 13 recovery. 3. Some trash in the control building break room. 4. Chart paper and clutter in panels in the control room. 5. Cleaning of kitchen area could be improved.
