Cua from evaporator <aod liquid from receiver are piped to o common line
connected to an eductor. Centrifugal pump transfers water from baaement forego tank and diachargee through edoclor into a 2500-gal emergency tank vented to the outdoors. Mix one gallon of water with one pound of ammonia in the eductor. Keep tank vent away, from building windows, other opening*.
By uaing an emergency tunk, TS con reclaim the ammonia when the emer gency ed>. To do this, close velvea A

New equipment TS needs include# the pump, valves, eductor end concrete lank. Pump, valves and eductor vhould be cast iron.
Of course, TS could dump the ammonia-weter mixture into an under
ground sewer or river instead of a tank. The ammonia, however, could not be reclaimed and local water authorities might object. Beal locution lor ammoniastorage tank would be outdoors.

SKBTCHES show two ways of diipor of the ammonia. In the first it is pi] to the water-storage tank through inlet pipe that terminate* below water aurface, providing a water ) to prevent escape of ammonia gas
Fit a gate valve to ammonia feed li. to permit isolating gas from unit. Cite valve in same line prevents backflow gas if line pressure goes below t vapor pressura of the arnmonla-nu mixture, or if Unk water level too -high. Fit tank discharge line W a goto valve to isolate tank from wtdisposal system. Use a check v|ve

1 How Do I Stop Pump I Casing Erosion?
Our four sca-woter circulating pumps are driven by 10O-hp 573.rpm induction motors. Lift is about 6 ft, discharge resist ance about 7 psi.
Photos show one rotor after six months* use. it is badly cor roded and had to bo replaced with a neoprene-eoaied unit.
After new rotor wes In use one month we removed It for a look. It wes in good condition but
easing showed signs of Severn erosion ( it appears that attack on easing Is worse than on the rotors In these pumps.
What's best way of protect ing these casings? Our plant is o long distance from repair shops, and we*d like to do the work If It's possible^--AfC
2 What'* Best Hookup For This Plant?
We have two 5-Ion refrigerating machines In parallel for cream ery service. Suction pressure b 25 psi, dbchargo 170 pil. Hierc's only one expansion valve to serve both machines.
When either machine runs alono we are able to maintain the right suelion and discharge pressures. Out when both ora la use, suction pressure drops to 15 psi.
Is change |n suction pressure n result of using only otto ex pansion vatve? Wo have an equalising line on the high-pres sure side of each eondenser, ond electric hookup Is OK. What can we do to maintain 25-psi suc tion protsure with both ma chines running?--CAT

SAVED: 24 HOURS OFWoWN-TIME"
The operating department of a large Texas company saved one complete day In putting their plant back on the line after o maintenance shut-down. They saved so estimated $45,000 and gave all the credit to FlexitslHc Spiral-Wound Gaskets. U' the amazing spring-action of Flexitai/ic Gaskets that simplifies the making and breaking of flanged Joints, Only l/16-lnch breakaway Is required--and that's
Important at valves or where there Is close manifolding of the piping . . . Each Flexitaflfc Gasket Is engineered to meet specific conditions of thermal and
physical shock, corrosion, vibration, weaving and unpredictable joint stresses. Spirally wound V-crimped piles of required metal with alternating plies of proper Alter results in a resilient gasket having characteristics of a calibrated spring. Fiexiuilie Gaskets are at highest efficiency when bolted up cold at a predeter' mined load. For ah presaufe/tempenature ranges from vacuum to 10,000 lbs., from extreme sub-zero to 2000* F, For all standard joint assemblies. In four thicknesses for special requirements:..12S*, .175*, .250', .185*. With Teflon filler
for corrosive chemical conditions. Write us your requirements ... Flexitalic
