REFERRING TO LETTER OF
.
This past week it has been brought to our attention that one of our plants that we had thought was using outside contractors to remove and install asbestos type insulation was in fact using
company men to do this work It was found at that time that
. the Threshold Limit Value and Ceiling concentrations for airborne asbestos dust were exceeded In order to bring us up
to date on the removal of old asbestos insulation and the
installation of new insulation in our area plants please answer the following questions and return them to us by June 1 1973
1 When making repairs on asbestos insulatioannd it
removed , is
is it replaced with a asbestos type
insulation .
2 Are all new needs of insulation met by using a asbestos type insulation
install 3 Do you use outside contractors to remove or asbestos type insulation
4. If you are using your own men to do this work how many are involved and how often and for how long does
each man engage himself in this work
5 If and when any asbestos insulation is installed or removed what type of respiratory protection is
used
6 When removing old adbestos insulation or tooling and
ventila- installing new asbestos insulation is local exhaust
tion provided to remove the free asbestos dust
