Grumbles March 23, 1987 GREENWOOD INDUSTRIES AIR SAMPLING VIS17 Below is a summary of the air sampling done at the Greenwood plant in Greenwood, Arkansas. The Greenwood plant injection molds PVC compound to manufacture electrical wire harnesses. Survey Description During the survey, four area samples and three personal samples were obtained during the day shift. All sampling was done Thursday, February 5. Samples were obtained using 3M 3500 Organic Vapor Monitors obtained from CTEK Laboratories in Dallas, TX. Samples were sent from the plant via overnight mail to CTEK for analysis. CTEK is a fully certified industrial hygiene laboratory. Sampling Results All samples taken were analyzed for vinyl chloride monomer. All results were below detectable limits. The table attached describes each sample and the results. t The laboratory report is also attached. Personal samples were taken for less than full shift due to late arrival of the OVM's from the lab. However, based on the work routine and workplace conditions, j.t is valid to assume these results would be representative of a full shift exposure. Observations/Conclusions As discussed this report verifies our workplace experience that no detectable amounts of vinyl chloride are released from processing PVC compounds under normal processing conditions.
