Results Dear Mr. Cox Attached are copies of the analytkal results for water samples taken on August 14,2001 from three LPSD welts and the LPSD Buffett# 1 main water line. As reported in the quality control portion of the analytical 11H#FUA SUfTti3ate method spike and method spite d u p E (MS/MSD) recovery are outside the quality control limits. To Improve the accuracy of the analysis for the presence of ammoniumi pertluoreoctanoate (C-8) in water, DuPont has been assessing alternative anaiybcai procedure DuPont has also been investigating new samping procedures to assure more , J hrou?Jh 0lte assssmen* dnd investigation, DuPont has identified a now analytical ro^hod mat Should prote greater precision and accuracy for data that te generated. We have ako revised the sampling protocol to improve the quality of data. DuPont intends to implement the revised sampling protocol and new analytical procedure for our collection and analysis of Mure samples from Bared oh the "provedI seam a* of the new analytical procedure, our w rit to date suggests that the new method may yield resells that show concentrations of C-8 significantly above levels that have been most recently reported and above DuPont's community exposure guidelines CCEG*). Actual c o n c e n t i r S f samples ulTeing the new protocol aid procedure cannot be estimated at this time. Exposures above the CEG. however, would be tiMy to result in considerably less exposure than occurs with employees who healih effects attributable to 0 8 . The CEG InthcosrpeoWraOtre^s mr ultiple consehravvaetiv"<e*adsseummpotionn^sSanfda tdhevreefSoree it should not be assumed that an exposure to C-8 at levels above She CEG is rwcessarily unsafTM ' Ifyou have any questions or need additional Information, please contact me at 304-883*4271.
