Proposed for St. Paul, Minn. An ordinance amending the Housing Code, Chapter 54 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code, controlling the use of paint containing lead. The Council of the City of Saint Paul Does Ordain: SECTION 1 That Section 54.09 of the Saint Paul Legislative Code is hereby amended by adding the following language. (5) If paint containing more than one per cent (17.) of lead exposed on any dwelling exterior or appurtenance thereto is blistered, cracked, flaked, scaled or chalked, it shall be removed. SECTION 2 That Section 54.10 is hereby amended by adding the following language: (8) USE OF PAINT CONTAINING LEAD. (a) No person shall use paint containing lead pigment for painting the interior of any dwelling or dwelling unit.. (b) No porch, interior door, window, or trim surface below a level five feet from the floor shall have exposed accumulated paint con taining more than one per cent (17.) of lead. (c) No interior wall, floor, or ceiling, or interior door, window, or trim surface above a level five feet from the floor, shall have exposed accumulated paint containing more than one per cent (17.) of lead if said paint is blistered, cracked, flaked, scaled or chalked away. If so, it shall be removed or covered with wallboard, paneling or other durable material approved by the Bureau of Health. SECTION 3 This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty days from and after its passage, approval and publication. LIA-7 5694
