AR226-3125 HASKELL LABORATORY FOR TOXICOLOGY AND INDUSTRIAL MEDICINE H-24119: STATIC, ACUTE 96-HOUR SCREENING TEST TO FATHEAD MINNOWS, Pirn ephales promelas PURPOSE: This is a rangefmdmg study designed to provide an estimate of aquatic toxicity using fixed test concentrations and data measurements at predetermined intervals. The 50 mg/L test solution was clear with a suspended substance, the 500 mg/L test solution was slightly cloudy with a suspended substance, and the 5000 mg/L test solution was cloudy and white in color with a suspended substance throughout the test. In addition, the 500 mg/L test solution developed a white cloudy film on the bottom of the test vessel after 24 hours that was present throughout the remainder of the study. Mortalities were 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, and 80% in the 0, 0.5, 1.0, 50, 500, and 5000 mg/L test solutions, respectively. The 96-hour LC5o, based on nominal concentrations and mortality, was between 500 and 5000 mg/L. All water quality parameters were within acceptable limits with the exception of the D.O. in the water control and the 5000 mg/L test solution. The D.O. of the water control solution and the 5000 mg/L test solution were below what is normally acceptable throughout the final 24 hours of the test, but it did not affect the validity of the study. CONCLUSIONS H-24119 exhibited low toxicity in a 96-hour, unaerated, static acute test using Fathead minnows, Pimephales promelas. WORK/AUTHORED BY: ^A^f^W^MM<L Laurie D.
