KEN, HERE'S THE INFORMATION YOU REQUESTED ON OUR NEW ASBESTOS ABATEMENT BUILDING. WHEN THE INSPECTION TOOK PLACE, THE BUILDING HAD BEEN IN OPERATION ONLY A FEW HOURS.
THE BUILDING WAS BUILT WITHOUT ANY FORMAL PLANS. THE AREA AROUND IT IS A LITTLE ROUGH, BUT WILL PROBABLY BE DEVELOPED LATER. SORRY FOR THE QUALITY OF THE PICTURES, BUT PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT MY FORTE.

The building consists of 1378 square feet (SK-1) with three areas, each with a 12 foot working height (see SK-2). The Pipe Loading Airlock is 375 square feet, the Stripping Room is 875 square feet, the Waste out Airlock is 64 square feet, and the Water Filter System room is 64
square feet.
The conventional frame structure has inner walls of High Density Overlaid Plywood which has been caulked at each seam. This provides an air tight building while also providing water resistant walls for washdowns. The mandoors are typical steel man-doors with magnetic seals. The two large loading doors are roll up doors with magnetic seals at the edges and a rubber flex seal at the bottom.
The building is equipped with 12-8 foot 4 bulb fluorescent light fixtures and 1 electrical receptical in the Stripping Room for power tools if needed(see SK-3).
The floor consists of a 6 inch wire mesh reinforced concrete slab with a center drain in each room for washdown (see SK-4). The drains empty to a sump from which the water filter system draws.
The water filter system for the building is a 4 way filter system using 2-50 micron pleated canister type filters leading into 2-5 micron pleated canister type filters. The water is pumped with a 1/2 horsepower self-priming
pump. This system is capable of filtering approximately 20 gallons per minute.
A pneumatic negative air machine with a 16" variable speed air driven axial fan and large filters for good air flow is used in the building. This supplies 4 air exchanges per hour. Adjustable intake louvers were installed as needed to provide proper air flow through the building to the negative air machine and avoid dead air.
Entry and exit is facilitated through an 8 foot by 20 foot mobile decontamination unit (see SK-5 and 6). This unit has Air conditioning, a 15 man locker set, storage shelves and cabinets, dressing benches and non-slip floor tape. The "clean room" is separated from the "dirty room" by two showers with three-way overlapping curtains that exceed O.S.H.A. requirements. The unit is equipped with a 46 gallon holding tank, a water pump, and a 4 way filtration system for the contaminated water, as well as a 70 cfm negative air filtration unit in the "dirty room".
