INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE............................................................................................. H. W. PRACHT
As preliminary plans are completed the Industrial Hygiene Committee will undertake the task of determining potential health hazards associated with the handling, use and production of all materials at Davenport Works. This will entail a complete survey of materials in each department. The survey will be made by a member of the Industrial Hygiene Committee and a member of each department, thus making the task easier and comprehensive. It is anticipated that these surveys will start early in January. Division Heads will be notified of the Committee member making the survey in his department so that he might designate the person most capable of assisting in the survey.
In addition to the survey of materials, areas or sources of undue noise should be pointed out to Committee members so that noise tests may be made where necessary. A writeup of the survey for each department, together with recommendations for precautions in the handling, use, or production of each material will be issued to each department as soon as possible after the surveys have been completed. Your cooperation is essential to the success of this activity.
