Shprwin-Wi'Hian* has included SG-130 asbestos in a new formulation for exterior texture paint. They have, therefore, asked us to supply purchase specifications for SG-130. In preparing these specifications, the SG-130 product quality data obtained at King City and Niagara Falls over the past four years have been reviewed. The review showed that the product was generally well within specifications butAhat the specifications were so broadly drawn that it could, and sometimes did, vary quite widely in important properties. This letter presents the data and recarmends updated product specifications. The data from Niagara Falls "composite" samples are listed in Table I. The corresponding King City quality control data as provided by Dick Marsten in his letter of 10/21/71 are given in Figure 1. It is useful to examine and com pare these results as a background for selecting appropriate specifications. Percent Reflectance {Test 1, Table I) is only run at Niagara Falls on this product. Table I shows that reflectance has always been very constant in the 70-71 range. The magnetics results from Table I and Figure 1 are summarized ton Page 2 for convenience in comparison. Since some of the samples were marked with dates and some with lot numbers. Figure 1 has been used to get what appears to be a generally good matchup.
