Mr. Murdoch's letter on Proposed Insulating platerials for Naval Vessels has been given careful consideration. Our interest is in the lagging cloths used and, even though only a small percen- of the dust would normally come from lagging, we would like to comment on them. #` Lagging cloth currently purchased by the Navy to SS-C-466e Spec: fication can be greatly improved. These cloths are linty. A variety of finishes are available that will render these cloths practically lint-free. This is accomplished by adding low percentages of binder resins. . There is a possibility that the Asbestos Textile Institute may make definite recommendations, and we would^appreciate the opportunity to work with you in whatever way may be desirable from a technical view.
